The first payments for continuing education and training will be available from this August and contractors will have a three-month window in which to make their claims.
A spokesman for the office of the Health Minister said: 'We are working on a determination to allow the first payment to be made.' This should be in force for the beginning of August.
The payments will be made in response to a claim made by contractors and payments made to contractors. Once the determination is in force contractors will have three months to make their claims, from August to October.
The agreement reached on payments for optometrists' participation in CET is for £270 for 2004 and £425 for 2005 to be paid retrospectively.
