CET scheme wins approval

Rules for the General Optical Council's new CET scheme have been approved in what was outgoing chair Anna Bradley's last quarterly meeting.

The new rules have been submitted for Privy Council consideration this week.

The GOC continues to brief CET providers on the changes, which include a requirement for peer review and more interactive learning.

Linda Ford, head of education and standards, said: 'The new rules are designed to help registrants improve their practice by learning from each other. Registrants will be expected to take part in more interactive forms of CET, with more opportunities to engage with peers and reflect on good practice.'
