Charities for the blind join forces

Action for Blind People and the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) have officially joined forces.

A joint statement said that both bodies have committed to sharing resources, skills and expertise to reach more blind and partially sighted people and to provide enhanced services.

Moreover, they will combine regional service delivery across England while maintaining their individual brand identities, boards of trustees and strategic management teams.

'This partnership will reinforce our commitment to supporting blind people and improving the nation's eye health, making this a truly dynamic and innovative time in the sector,' said Lesley-Anne Alexander, chief executive of the RNIB.

Stephen Remington, chief executive of Action for Blind People,said: 'Combining our services makes sense - blind and partially sighted people will be able to access the right practical and emotional support to meet their aspirations as and when they need it.'
