Eye research charity Fight for Sight has announced a new research strategy to maximise the impact of its funding

Eye research charity Fight for Sight has announced a new research strategy to maximise the impact of its funding.

Over the next five years the charity will focus the majority of its funding on a small number of areas. These include: AMD; glaucoma; inherited eye disease; and sight loss link to other disease, such as diabetes, Alzheimer’s and inflammatory disease.

Dr Neil Ebenezer, director of research, policy and innovation at Fight for Sight, said: ‘As well as identifying four strategic programmes we will continue to fund the same high quality of research into all eye conditions.’

The charity is also asking for applications from potential supervisors of PhD students to research sight loss, for which they are making grants of up to £100,000 available.
