British eyewear designer Tom Davies has used pieces of meteorite from Mars to make two exclusive sunglasses as part of a fundraising effort for sight loss charity Orbis.
‘A couple of months ago, pre-Covid-19, I planned a trip to the Sahara to hunt for meteorites. Not being able to leave on this adventure, I went for the next best thing and purchased a piece of NWA6963 meteorite,’ Davies explained.
‘The meteorite is a rock that detached from Mars and is characterised by its unique
purple, red and green tones, the perfect elements to the exclusive new sunglasses designs, which will be handmade by me personally.’
