Lens manufactures in the Gloucestershire area have reported a heightened interest in vacancies following restructuring by the Essilor Group.
A statement from Essilor confirmed changes had taken place at Signet Armorlite UK (SAE) and Sinclair Optical Services (SOS) in their facilities at Quedgley, Staunton and Ross-on-Wye respectively. It said all changes impacting staff were achieved through voluntary redundancies after employee consultation.
Changes outlined in the statement included the closure of the surfacing and coating facility in Quedgley in December, as well as the coating facility in Ross-on-Wye. The surfacing facility in Staunton was downsized. The headquarters of SAE remains at Quedgley, employing general management, customer services, distribution, glazing, marketing, warehousing, finance and other services. The SOS headquarters remains at Staunton.
