Community Health and Eye Care (CHEC) won a three-year contract with NHS Dorset CCG to provide ophthalmology services across the county, as part of its first move into the South West region of the UK.
It began giving care at the three facilities in Bournemouth, Poundbury and Christchurch, on April 1, 2022, with a focus on low to medium risk eye conditions, as well as glaucoma monitoring and post cataract surgery follow-ups.
The deal included patients’ access to CHEC’s extra services, such as free Home to Hospital transportation to and from consultations and surgery; and use of its new app for booking, which is aimed at minimising cancellations and missed appointments.
