Chernobyl orphans visit Bausch & Lomb

Obituary Ð Ronald Youngu Optometrist Ronald Young of R Young (Opticians) in Stanley, County Durham died on July 2, aged 70.
Mr Young was involved with several committees including the Durham Local Optometric Committee and was past chairman of Northumberland and North Durham Association of Optometrists.
He is survived by his wife Jean, two sons and two grandchildren. Mr YoungÕs sons, Alan and Paul, will carry on the running of family business.
En garde!u A contact lens manufacturer has been selected to fence for Great Britain in the World Veterans Championship in Budapest this month.
Steve Lennox has been fencing for 40 years. He was a full-time fencing instructor in 1973 and in 1976 was British Professional Champion. Mr Lennox was 1999 Kent sabre champion and is currently Great Britain VeteransÕ Master at Arms.
Mr Lennox is managing director of SCL (Contact Lenses) the company that hand-paints hydrophilic lenses for hospital and films, which are supplied exclusively through Cantor and Nissel.
In 1977 Mr Lennox joined the contact lens industry with Menicon UK and became one of the first people in Britain to wear gas-permeable lenses.


Going to great heights for charityu Wilson, Wilson & Hancock employees have raised more than £600 for the Royal National Institute for the Blind. Colin Latham Jig Patel, Greg Loftus, Jennifer Pearce, Teresa Pearce and Ella Muggridge (pictured l-r) did an aerial slide over Bewl Water Reservoir in Kent. ÔDespite our nerves we all survived the 400ft slide and even managed to smile for a photograph,Õ said Ms Pearce.
