A round table discussion took place last week to debate the idea that children are being let down by primary care trusts that fail to provide routine screening
The round table was hosted by Transitions Optical which last year sponsored the high profile Eye Know Eye Care children's education initiative. The panel discussed the idea that a postcode lottery for eye care had been created by those primary care trusts that fail to screen.
The Association of Optometrists' (AOP) chief executive Bob Hughes said over the next month 630,000 youngsters would start school for the first time. 'Who's to say they can see the white board and have the right vision to enable them to learn?' he asked. 'Who's responsible?'
