The GOC has begun a consultation on entry to the register for CLOs

The General Optical Council (GOC) has begun a consultation on its proposals to update requirements for specialist entry to the register as a contact lens optician.

GOC requirements for entry underpinned the approval of qualifications for entry to the register. The newly launched consultation detailed that the regulator was seeking views on three proposed documents that describe outcomes and standards for approved qualifications alongside the quality assurance and enhancement method.

The proposed new documents would replace older documents, said the GOC, including the list of required core competencies and numerical requirements for trainees’ practical experiences.
