A three-month period for optometrists and certain ophthalmic medical practitioners (OMPs) to make claims for CET undertaken in 2009 will run from August 1 to November 30, 2010.

The Department of Health said £468 was due to OOs, as well as OMPs who conduct sight tests only and have no other remunerated medical employment such as hospital work or general practice. Both OOs and OMPs must have been on a PCT performers list for at least six months in 2009 and have maintained their professional registration.

Claims must be made in writing to the appropriate PCT and be made by contractors whether the contractor is claiming for themselves or a performer. Claim forms are available at www.dh.gov.uk
