Clinical advisers appointed by Optometry Wales

Optometry Wales gave Sharon Beatty and Sarah Schumm a joint role

Optometry Wales has appointed Sharon Beatty and Sarah Schumm to share the role of clinical adviser and work towards contract reform for primary eye care services.

Both will attend meetings held by Welsh Government and will be responsible for creating new clinical pathways and drafting clinical manuals.

Beatty previously worked as an optometric adviser for Cardiff and Vale while Schumm has worked as interim clinical adviser at Optometry Wales for several months.

Craig Mackenzie, vice chair at Optometry Wales, said: ‘These dual appointments will allow us to properly contribute to the work of reform in Wales. It will allow us to have dedicated time and expertise to hand at the most crucial time for us as a profession in Wales and we are looking forward to welcoming Sharon and Sarah to the growing team in Optometry Wales.’
