No interim order has been made in a fitness to practise hearing against 'optometrist B' as the lack of expert evidence meant the two FTP lay members would not be able to understand or assess B's clinical performance.
The case concerned a complaint against B made over work carried out in 2008 and 2009. The complainant, and employer, gave photocopied records and other documents as evidence. These were annotated with handwritten comments by the complainant but did not include witness statements. The Committee noted that there was little independent evidence that backed up the criticisms. It concluded that there had been a bitter falling out between B and the employer which resulted in B finding employment elsewhere earlier this year.
