One of the largest online eyewear and contact lens retailers in the world has confirmed plans for a number of bricks and mortar locations after a successful store trial this summer.

Canadian company Coastal Contacts set up the store in its native Vancouver in March 2013 and according to a report on Yahoo Finance, brought in sales of up to $2,500 per square foot – $500 more than leading athletics good supplier Lululemon.

A second outlet in Vancouver will be opened this month and the trial store will close and move to a different location when the current lease expires. Coastal Contacts founder and CEO Roger Hardy reportedly said Coastal Contacts wanted to open 8-10 stores within a year – each being staffed with optical staff and matching the company’s online pricing.
