Optometrist Norbert Cohn has celebrated an incredible 63 years of service at the Institute of Optometry (IOO).
Cohn, who hung up his retinoscope at the end of March, joined the IOO, then the London Refraction Hospital in 1944, predating the first Opticians Act and the establishment of the NHS.
During a touching speech, Cohn said that volunteering at the London Refraction Hospital (LRH) was a privilege and that the IOO remained one of the few places where clinical excellence was still of more importance than commercial gain.
IOO chairman Bob Murrell said: 'Norbert Cohn's outstanding long service to the LRH/IOO and eye care is an inspiration and all those involved with the Institute of Optometry wish him well in his retirement.'
