A fortnight ago the College stated it was seeking 'an urgent meeting' with the DoH and the deputy chief medical officer to discuss guidance content. Efforts to overcome the impasse regarding the re-use of trial contact lenses took a step forward last month when it was reported that an effective decontamination system for ophthalmic devices and trial lenses (News, November 10) had been found. - The College's latest meeting with the British Orthoptic Society included discussion on government funding for CET. 'Both organisations agreed on the importance of cooperation,' said a spokeswoman.
