College elects new president

Dr Gillian Ruddock

A new president of the College of Optometrists and seven new council members were introduced at its annual general meeting during the Optometry Tomorrow conference in Telford on April 29.

Dr Gillian Ruddock, current council member for the north west, has become president, succeeding Professor Leon Davies who is now chair of the board.

Dr Ruddock said: ‘It is an incredible privilege to be elected as president of the College of Optometrists and represent this amazing profession. I am immensely proud to call myself an optometrist and I have the highest respect for my colleagues.’
