College of Optometrists plans new event

Bookings have opened for a new College of Optometrists event for pre-registration trainees.

Two-thirds of the tickets have already been sold for Insight, which is being held in Birmingham on Sunday 22 November. It will cover the work-based assessment and OSCEs, together with a clinical lecture on communication by Professor Bruce Evans.

He said: ‘Communication is a key skill for optometrists and a key overarching theme across all assessments for a pre-reg trainee. I am excited to have the opportunity to present a lecture on the subject to trainees who are just beginning their careers in the consulting room. I will talk about the typical comments patients make and what these can tell us about their anxieties and needs.’
