College publishes road safety advice

The College of Optometrists has marked Road Safety Week

The College of Optometrists has marked Road Safety Week (16-22 November) with the release of advice for drivers that encouraged them to ensure their vision meets safety standard.

Research conducted by the college showed that two thirds of British adults admitted to experiencing blurred vision, while over a third (35%) believed their vision had noticeably deteriorated in the past two years.

The College’s advice included the recommendation that sunglasses be kept in a vehicle and that visual problems may be more prominent at night. Glare from icy roads and the greater propensity for road traffic accidents to occur at night were also mentioned.
