College research scholarships return

The College of Optometrists has announced that its research scholarships have been renewed for 2022, with a new funding opportunity for an optometrist at post-doctoral level.

Donations from College members have part-funded the post-doctoral research award, which provides an optometrists at postdoctoral level the opportunity to work as principal investigator on a research project in the area of swollen optic nerves and referral thresholds.

College director of research, Michael Bowen, said: ‘The College’s scholarships represent an important aspect of the College’s engagement with research, and it’s great to see their return after a brief break during the pandemic.’

Other scholarships available for application this year include a research fellowship, a postgraduate scholarship and a clinical research fellowship. Applications close on March 1 and can be made at college-optometrists.org/funding
