The College of Optometrists has awarded four postgraduate scholarships for 2007, bringing the total value of scholarships over the past 10 years to over £800,000.

The College of Optometrists has awarded four postgraduate scholarships for 2007, bringing the total value of scholarships over the past 10 years to over £800,000.

As a core element of its research activity, the College each year awards a number of postgraduate scholarships and summer scholarships. Of those awarded PhD scholarships, approximately 50 per cent have gone on to an academic career.

This year's postgraduate students to receive a scholarship include the following: Dr Keziah Latham (Anglia Ruskin University) studying self-reported visual performance in the visually impaired Dr Edward Mallen (University of Bradford) studying nearwork-induced transient myopia Professor Daphne McCullock (Glasgow Caledonian University) looking into near infrared spectroscopy of the primary visual cortex Professor Henson (University of Manchester) researching diagnostic imaging in glaucoma.
