College welcomes newly qualified optometrists to the profession

The College of Optometrists welcomed over 300 newly qualified optometrists to the profession at its diploma ceremony last week.

The annual ceremony, which was held at Central Hall Westminster in London last Tuesday, recognised those entering the profession, along with presenting a number of honorary and research awards.

Speaking at the event, Professor Edward Mallen, president of the College, said it was ‘great to welcome so many young and talented newly qualified members to the profession and celebrate the start of their new challenging and rewarding career.’

Sehrish Khalid, who received her membership diploma at the ceremony, said: ‘The diploma ceremony has been so lovely and it’s been great to celebrate our achievements. It’s great to be a part of the College, to be recognised as a new member of the profession and to hear the inspiring speeches.’
