Conditions for student dispensing optician Andrew Davies

Student dispensing optician Andrew Davies has been handed a three year conditional registration order by a General Optical Council fitness to practise committee

Student dispensing optician Andrew Davies has been handed a three year conditional registration order by a General Optical Council fitness to practise committee after failing to declare criminal and drink driving convictions on retention applications.

Davies was convicted of possession of cannabis in 2007, possession of amphetamine in 2010, along with criminal damage and drink driving convictions in 2011.

The committee alleged that Davies misled the GOC with his failure to declare the convictions and said that one of the retention form declarations was made just days after receiving a police caution.

In handing out sanction, the committee said the registrant had showed remorse and insight, and added that it believed that his dishonesty was capable of being remedied.
