An optometrist alleged to have manipulated GOS forms and displayed a number of sight testing shortcomings has been given an 18-month conditional registration order by a General Optical Council fitness to practise committee.

The GOC said it had received a complaint from an ophthalmic assistant formerly employed by Mark Geoffrey Walker over his practice from February to May 2013.

The former employee made a number of allegations against Walker, claiming that he manipulated GOS forms and appointment dates to fulfil NHS requirements, often completed GOS forms relating to fitting before spectacles were delivered and used two patient databases that could be manipulated upon investigation.
