Conlons Opticians in Millom is to become a Vision Express practice instead of closing, following feedback from residents who said they needed the local service.

A decision by Vision Express to close the former Conlons store in Millom was reviewed by the multiple this week.

It follows Vision Express’ acquisition of Conlons Opticians, a network of 19 stores situated in the North West of England and Scotland, announced on Monday.

The Millom store will now continue trading as part of the Vision Express portfolio, bringing the total number of Vision Express outlets in the UK and Ireland to 390.

Vision Express CEO Jonathan Lawson said: ‘Millom has a large proportion of retired residents, who we understand would find it difficult to reach our nearest store in Barrow-In-Furness.
