Consultation on solutions market withdrawal

Optician understands CooperVision has begun a consultation on whether it will pull out of the lens care products market by the end of October, 2022.

In a letter from the UK & Ireland country manager Doug Bairner to practitioners, the company said the 2017 withdrawal of the Synergi brand and the recent voluntary recall of Hy-Care multipurpose solution had ‘significantly impacted’ the ‘longer term commercial proposition’ on offer to customers.

Practices awaiting stock of products after the Hy-Care recall were told that resupply dates would not be affected by the proposed cessation of lens care product manufacturing, but these products would not be the Hy-Care branded multipurpose solution.
