Continued amber phase guidance confirmed

As legal requirements in England end, amber phase guidance was still advised

Optical practices and staff should continue to follow the College of Optometrists’ amber phase guidance and maintain all infection prevention controls.

A statement was issued by the College and the Association of Dispensing Opticians (ABDO) after all remaining Covid-19 restrictions in England were removed on February 24.

All Covid-19 legal restrictions in England have ended, including the need to self-isolate if testing positive for Covid-19, although advised to do so still.

NHS England was expected to confirm that self-isolation requirements and return to work criteria for health and care staff would still apply.

The joint statement said: ‘Optometry practices and staff should continue to follow the College's amber guidance and FAQs to maintain high infection control standards to keep staff and patients safe from the continued risk of Covid-19.’
