Convicted dispensing optician struck off GOC register

Essex-based dispensing optician Brian Davies has been erased from GOC register after he was convicted on sexual assault charges

GOC appoints fitness to practise directorEssex-based dispensing optician Brian Davies has been erased from GOC register after being convicted on sexual assault charges.

A GOC fitness to practise committee found his fitness to practise impaired by virtue of the convictions, which led to imprisonment in July last year.

Among the convictions were sexual assaults on females including on a child under 13 years.

‘The committee noted that the registrant’s conduct involved a serious breach of trust initially involving a child under the age of 13 years which persisted over a number of years,’ a GOC statement said. ‘Given the serious nature and extent of the registrant’s offending, the committee formed the view that the registrant’s conduct was fundamentally incompatible with him continuing to be registered as a dispensing optician.’
