
Higher prescriptions are now available in MiSight 1 day after CooperVision expanded the range to cover -0.25 diopters to -10D in 0.50D steps after -6.00D.
The company said it meant the contact lens covered 99.97% of prescriptions for Asian children and 99.97% for Caucasian children who have myopia and less than 1D of astigmatism.
Elizabeth Lumb, optometrist and director of global professional affairs for myopia management at CooperVision, said: ‘Every diopter matters, particularly for children whose worsening myopia may have already placed them at a higher risk for conditions such as myopic maculopathy and glaucoma. While early treatment is best, it’s never too late to start. Even older children starting with MiSight 1 day have seen the worsening of their myopia cut by half.’
