CooperVision National Student Summit winner named

Fiona Buckmaster of Glasgow Caledonian University wins prize for her project on the influence of environmental humidity upon Schirmer testing of tears

Optometry students from around the country recently took part in the National Student Summit organised by CooperVision. Each presented a summary of their shortlisted research project before an assembled judging panel of lecturers from the institutions chaired by Optician clinical editor Bill Harvey.

The winner was Fiona Buckmaster of Glasgow Caledonian University who along with her project supervisor Dr Ian Pearce, collected a cheque for £2,000 from CooperVision UK & Ireland professional relations manager Karl Aberdeen. Her project looked at the influence of environmental humidity upon Schirmer testing of tears and may have implications in the definition and diagnosis of dry eye throughout the world.
