CooperVision seeks entrants for research awards

The contact lens company's research programme is focusing on myopia and presbyopia treatment solutions

CooperVision is focusing on novel research concepts to address myopia and presbyopia for its 2020 Science and Technology Awards programme.

The programme, which is now open for submissions, is designed to help scientists explore vision care solutions with the aim of translating ideas into practical solutions.

Francies Erard, vice president of research and development at CooperVision, said: ‘Since launching the Science and Technology Awards in 2014, multiple collaborations have emerged that are helping shape advancements in contact lenses, refractive error and ocular disease. We have high expectations for new partnerships this year, especially with such high-visibility areas as myopia and presbyopia.’

For this year’s awards, CooperVision will consider submissions for strategies and interventions to slow myopia progression and technologies to enhance the optical functionality of contact lenses for the correction of presbyopia.
