Coti Vision: Chain letters

It partnered with designer Ilekeco to create eyewear accessories with waste

Eyewear accessory designer Coti Vision has partnered with Lagos-based designer Ilekeco to create a new chain made from recycled paper.

Ilekeco transforms waste materials such paper into wearable beads and earrings. Each bead is rolled by hand and then coloured and painted.

The Ilekeco chain is available in four colours, with each hue given a plant-based African name, including Dika/green based on the African wild mango and Ixia/blue, derived from an African corn lily plant with light blue flowers.

Coti Vision co-founders Julie Hawkins and Nancy Gries said: ‘We have partnered with Ilekeco because of their passion to create something completely fashionable out of everyday waste. It’s the sustainable fashion element and the ability to contribute to women in Nigeria that has made this project so important for us.’
