Appeal for information on identity of a missing man found with glasses case

A fresh appeal for information on the identity of a missing man whose body was recovered from a river near Leeds with only a glasses case and a bottle opener in his possession has been issued by West Yorkshire Police.

The man, who police estimate to have been between 50 and 60 years of age, was carrying a glasses case from Sydney Goldwyn Opticians in Leeds. His body was found in the River Aire in Methley on May 10, 1974.

Police say the man was of white European descent and was 183cm tall, of a large build, with dark brown straight hair. He had no distinguishing features, but was found wearing a brown jacket, a light brown sweater, and size 11 brown shoes.
