Council members required

The GOC has sought two new council members, deadline October 2

Two new council member positions have been sought by the General Optical Council (GOC).

It said it would appoint one lay member with expertise in audit, risk and finance and one dispensing optician registrant member.

The roles will involve exercising oversight, ensuring effective corporate governance, and making high-level policy decisions, said the GOC.

Council members will also be required to operate strategically and impartially, listen, communicate, and influence effectively.

Dr Anne Wright, GOC chair of council, said: ‘We welcome all applications from across the UK but are especially keen to hear from candidates in Northern Ireland to maintain fair representation from the devolved nations on our Council.’
