Counting the cost of sight loss

Vision UK 2009 was held in Westminster last week attracting a broad audience including representatives from the optical bodies, eye health and social care professionals and voluntary organisations in the sight loss sector.

A key aim of the day was to discuss how to raise the national profile of eye health. With this in mind, a major new study, funded by the RNIB, examining the prevalence of vision loss in the UK and its associated costs was presented to the invited audience.

According to the RNIB, the study, which comprised two pieces of research by Access Economics and EpiVision, will support and inform the UK Vision Strategy and the RNIB's strategic goals.
