A couple from Lancashire have become the first to receive Intensity multifocal intraocular lenses after they had surgery at HCA UK at The Wilmslow Hospital in Cheshire.
Andy and Gail Lythgoe from Atherton were treated by consultant ophthalmologist Say Aun Quah with the lenses, which were designed by Hanita Lenses and recently launched in the UK by Birmingham Optical.
Andy said the lenses had given him a new lease of life. ‘As a plasterer, it can be so frustrating to wear glasses – they steam up or get spattered with plaster – so not having to wear them ever again is incredible.’
Gail added that it has helped her when looking after her two young grandchildren, as well as checking food labels in the supermarket or looking at her computer.
