Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS Foundation Trust has been rated as Good by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) in a new report.
In an inspection which took place in May 2016, the CQC assessed services in the trust’s 32 sites across five categories: safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led.
Chief inspector of hospitals Professor Sir Mike Richards said: ‘We observed staff providing compassionate care and treating patients with dignity and respect. Staff were proud of the organisation as a place to work and spoke highly of the culture and opportunities.’
Commenting on the rating, Moorfields chief executive David Probert said: ‘This is testament to the professionalism, dedication and commitment of our staff across the trust. The service our patients receive is caring and effective and the trust’s clinical outcomes and safety record remains excellent, with ophthalmic clinical outcome performance evidenced amongst the best in the world.’
The CQC use a ratings scale of inadequate, requires improvement, good and outstanding to assess organisations.
