Cutler and Gross: Luxurious metals

Cutler and Gross harvested its archive to inspire its new autumn/winter 2023 collection of luxurious metal eyewear.

The range includes five spectacles and sunglasses that the British brand said was minimal with lightness and functionality at its core. The Aurum collection takes its name from the Latin word for gold and was designed in collaboration with jewellers using high quality materials, such as 18 karat gold and rhodium.

A panto silhouette taken from Cutler and Gross’ 1990s model 0306 has been elevated in the AUOP 0001 style. It features hand-drilled pins, metal detailing on the nose pads and ultrafine temples. Model AUSN 0002 (pictured) is an undersized aviator that takes it design cues from the brand’s 1099 frame that launched in 2010.
