Dam buster abseils for RNIB

Optical assistant Laura Murray abseiled 200 feet down that face of Baitings dam near Ripponden, West Yorkshire, in aid of the Royal National Institute for the Blind. Staff at Bury opticians Yates & Suddell were approached to take part in the 'Dare you abseil for charity' campaign and Laura was the only one brave enough to volunteer. Commenting on the experience, she said: 'I wasn't the slightest bit nervous until I looked over the edge then I was terrified. It took about five minutes to reach the bottom, but it seemed to go on forever. I kept my eyes shut the whole time.' Laura, who raised £205, vowed that it was her first and last time.
