The Association of British Dispensing Opticians welcomed guests to a brand new Midlands venue for its annual gala dinner last weekend, where Specsavers co-founder Dame Mary Perkins was among its award winners.
The event was held at Dallas Burston Polo Club on the Sunday evening of the organisation’s 2014 Conference and Exhibition, which attracted 600 delegates over two days of CET lectures and workshops.
Dame Mary was awarded an honorary fellowship by ABDO president Peter Black.
Other award winners included DO Andy Hepworth, who last week featured on BBC Radio One and Sky News to discuss protection against blue light, and was presented with a medal of excellence along with DO Ted Moffatt. Ian Anderson won the Area Prize while Kate Clarke won the Hamblin Memorial Prize. See next week’s news for a full report from the conference event.
