Denmark's opticians sell between 525,000 and 550,000 spectacles each year, and the country heads the European league of average eyewear spend.
There are estimated to be two and a half million users of vision correction in the Scandinavian country, out of a total population of five and a half million.
There are approaching 700 optical outlets in Denmark, and each optical purchase represents an average spend of 460 euros.
However, Danish patients only replace their eyewear every four years, much less frequently than in the UK where patients replace their vision correction once every two years and two months.
