25 years ago, I got a phone call from Kate Charlesworth, a cartoonist friend of mine.  She'd been contacted by Optician because they were looking for someone to draw for them. She said she was a bit busy at that time so could I possibly knock out a few strips on a specs theme?  I said I could possibly come up with six glasses jokes.  I did just that and nobody has ever told me to stop.

I think everybody knows I'm no optician, but I am a very experienced glasses wearer and thought it best to 'open' an independent practice so I could involve the general public and comment from both sides of the Reception Desk. I'm finishing the run of weekly cartoons at  number 1,258 and still not much wiser about ophthalmics but I'm still here amidst all you professionals so I continually congratulate myself on bluffing for such a long time and getting away with it.
