Derbyshire-based dispensing optician Joanne Donnelly has been erased from the General Optical Council’s register after her fitness to practise was found to be impaired by reason of misconduct.
At a hearing in June, 2020, the fitness to practise committee found that on October 5, 2018, the registrant attended work when under the influence of alcohol.
The registrant was suspended for six months and at a review in December, 2020, the committee noted there had not been engagement from Donnelly since the hearing. A further six months suspension was imposed.
The committee has now decided that the registrant should be removed from the register based on her lack of interest in proceedings and the need to protect the public.
