Variable focus eyewear manufacturer Adlens has fought off competition from the likes of Apple to take top honours in the Consumer Product Design category at the 2015 Design Week Awards

AdlensFocussVariable focus eyewear manufacturer Adlens has fought off competition from the likes of Apple to take top honours in the Consumer Product Design category at the 2015 Design Week Awards.

AdlensFocuss, the company’s switchable prescription product, was recognised by a judging panel of prominent design figures across the UK.

Dr Rob Stevens, chief technology officer at Adlens, said: ‘This award validates our belief that AdlensFocuss is a game-changing, lifestyle-enhancing product. Adlens Variable Power Optics (VPO) technology has brought the first new type of lens to prescription eyewear for over 50 years. We see endless possibilities for VPO technology.’

The shortlist included MacBook by Apple, John Lewis’s ‘Wave’ cooking pan by Seymourpowell, and the Nest Learning Thermostat.
