Welsh dispensing optician Rhys Williams this week takes on a 226km Ironman tournament to raise money for the Guide Dogs for the Blind Association.
The event, on Sunday September 11, includes a 3.8km swim in the Carmarthen Bay waters, 180km bike ride through the countryside of Pembrokeshire Coast National Park and 42.1km run. Store manager of Specsavers in Llewellyn Walk, Williams said he has been getting up at 5am to cycle and run before work.
'Juggling all this training with a full time job is completely exhausting,' he added. Donations go towards an ongoing partnership between Specsavers and Guide Dogs to raise £250,000 and train 25 new guide dog puppies.
