Dispensing optician Frances Mecoy awarded ABDO top honour

Dispensing optician and lecturer Frances Mecoy has been awarded a Medal of Excellence by the Association of British Dispensing Opticians (ABDO).

The accolade was awarded to Mecoy for the work she has done for ABDO, City and Islington College and the students of ophthalmic dispensing.

During a career spanning more than 30 years, Mecoy has worked as chief anatomy technician at City and East London College as well as a locum dispensing optician in South London.

She later became a lecturer at City and Islington College, as well as a practical examiner and practice visitor for ABDO.

Introduced in 2000, the Medal of Excellence is awarded to members who have been of great service to the association.
