DO erased for misconduct

A dispensing optician based in High Wycombe, Thomas Dupeyrat, has been erased from the General Optical Council’s register following a fitness to practise hearing.

A committee found Dupeyrat’s fitness to practise impaired by reason of misconduct after finding his actions to be dishonest and misleading.

This was in relation to undertaking contact lens assessments without the required supervision, failing to maintain adequate patient records, and submitting records that were inaccurate and had not been anonymised to maintain patient confidentiality.

The fitness to practise committee heard that the allegations against Dupeyrat took place between November 2018 and August 2021 while training to become a qualified contact lens optician.
