DO returns for ceremonial effort

Ilford dispensing optician Anil Gupta (pictured right) followed up a starring role in the portrayal of the industrial revolution at the Olympics opening ceremony in July by participating in the Paralympics opening ceremony late last month.

Gupta was tasked with marshalling duties at the ceremony and ensured that Bosnia, New Zealand, Sweden, Zimbabwe and Chile all entered the field of play without any hitches.

He was also asked to marshal dancers who were taking part in the ceremony. 'It was great fun and the team of seven of us have become friends,' said Gupta on his exploits.
