Leicester-based dispensing optician Sherinjit Mahal has been suspended from the General Optical Council’s register for three months after a fitness to practise hearing.
A committee found Mahal’s fitness to practise impaired by reason of misconduct in relation to an email sent to the GOC in March 2022.
The email contained altered or false information that Mahal claimed was sent to her by a provider of continuing education and training (CET).
It was alleged the DO knew the amendments did not appear in the original email and she sought to mislead the GOC by claiming the amended comments were made by the CET provider.
