A fitness to practise hearing for a dispensing optician who allegedly fitted 14 patients with contact lenses while not qualified will now take place on April 7 in London.

A previous hearing in January was adjourned to allow an expert witness to give evidence.

It was alleged that David Agyeman carried out the fittings while working in the Minworth, Sutton Coldfield branch of Asda between July 6 and August 31 2005.

When the question of his qualification status was raised, Agyeman, who was employed through an agency, left. He denied what happened amounted to misconduct.
